Where are lessons held?
Lessons and training take place at Huntington Central Park Equestrian Center, 18381 Goldenwest St, Huntington Beach, CA 92648. Riders come from Fountain Valley, Westminster, Seal Beach, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, and across Orange County.
Do I need my own horse to take lessons?
No. If you don't have a horse, ask about lesson horse availability when you reach out. Riders with their own horse are welcome too.
What ages and experience levels do you teach?
All ages and all experience levels, from a rider's very first lesson to riders preparing for their first rodeo or tuning up for competition.
What should I wear to my first riding lesson?
Boots with a heel and long pants. Helmets are required for youth riders.
What happens at the first lesson?
The first session is an evaluation ride to see where you and your horse are with seat, cues, and confidence. From there you get a lesson plan built around your goals, schedule, and your horse's needs.
Do you offer private or group lessons?
Both. Private lessons give one-on-one attention to you and your horse. Small group sessions keep the coaching personal while you ride alongside other riders.
Do you coach barrel racing?
Yes. Remy Slobodian is a competitive barrel racer and coaches rate, shape, and speed on the pattern, plus the between-run habits that keep a barrel horse sharp.
Do you train horses as well as riders?
Yes. Horse training covers foundational groundwork, confidence and desensitizing, barrel horse tuning, and problem solving and corrections.
Can I haul in my own horse?
Yes. Haul-ins are welcome for training and pattern work.
Do lessons run year-round?
Yes. Lessons run year-round in Southern California.
How much do riding lessons cost?
